About the awards
Recognising indiviDuals that work across highways
The Highways Champions Awards seek to recognise individuals that work in the UK highways sector who have demonstrated some of these core values: exceptional skill, brilliance, selflessness, bravery and ingenuity. These people-focused awards are looking to honour those who have worked to improve long term outcomes for their colleagues and road users.
Celebrating Life Changing Innovation and Decisive Action on Our Roads
We will celebrate proactivity in problem solving as well as those moments where decisive reaction to a situation has been positively life changing. We want to hear about your team members who have invented new products and processes resulting in improvements in safety, resilience, reliability and efficiencies, especially where there are long-term benefits for road workers and/or road users.
highways champions medals
The judges will select scores of honourees; individuals to be invited to receive Highways Champions Medals at our ceremony on Wednesday 4th November. They will also judge entrants to the three special awards: for safety, innovation and process improvements – and select someone to receive the Highways Fellowship Award.
plus long service and rising stars
The ceremony will also honour long service: those sector workers who have dedicated 30 years or more of service, leaving a lasting legacy. And at the other end of the spectrum, we will recognise our rising stars: those that are demonstrating exceptional skills in the early years of their careers in the industry.
